Total Addressable Market (TAM) - Data and Assumptions
  • Refyne targets salaried employees and potentially even gig workers who earn regular income and might need early access to wages.
  • According Economic Survey 2024, regular wage/salaried employees in India accounts for around 20.9% of total workforce which is 56.6Cr. Hence total salaried employees in India is 11.8Cr.
  • The report also mentions that gig workers for 1.5% of total workforce. Hence, gig workers make another 0.8Cr of regular wage/salaried employees in India.
  • With Refyne's potential to expand to gig workers and the informal sector, the total workforce (including gig workers) in India is (11.8 + 0.8) = 12.6Cr employees.
  • Hence the TAM for refyne in 2024 would be 12.6Cr.
Serviceable Addressable Market (SAM) - Data and Assumptions
  • Not all employees would need to access their wages early. Let’s assume 30% of salaried and gig workers might have a consistent need for early access due to financial stress, emergencies, etc.

  • Refyne holds a significant portion of the Indian Earned Wage Access (EWA) market. Since its launch in 2020, it has positioned itself as India's first and largest EWA provider, catering to over 1 million employees across more than 200 organizations.
  • Although there is growing competition due to emerging players in this space. But due to Refyne's broad reach and early-mover advantage its safe to assume that Refyne holds a market share of 35% - 40% in 2024.

Experiments to identify where existing acquisition strategy is optimized

Refyne's main acquisition channels currently leveraged, are

  • direct partnerships with companies and
  • integrations with HR platforms.

Refyne partners with over 150 companies, helping them integrate Earned Wage Access (EWA) solutions seamlessly without requiring substantial internal resources. However, given the high growth target (3 million employees by next year), optimizing acquisition channels that emphasize digital outreach, partnership expansion, and app-based user engagement could prove beneficial​.


Experiment 1: Organic Content loops optimization Optimization
  • Experiment: Develop UGC through testimonials (by end user how quick and easy it was to EWA using Refyne) and case studies (by HR managers about ease of use and retention numbers after implementing Refyne) for video-based content and publish on platforms like youtube or Instagram Reels, as video UGC is increasingly favored by algorithms.
  • White space: At the moment there is not much UGC on Instagram. However, there is some UGC on Youtube. Refyne could optimize that by creating both long and short video content and repurpose the same by trimming it down as reels for Instagram. In this way, they can get traffic from Instagram to Youtube and their website and app. These content could be used to target younger generation demographic interested in ICP.


Experiment 2: Paid Ads Optimization
  • Targeted LinkedIn Ads for Employer Acquisition: Run LinkedIn ads targeting HR leaders, CFOs, and operations managers within mid-to-large companies. Create separate ad variations based on job titles, company size, and industry (such as healthcare, retail, or manufacturing) to determine which segment responds best.
